The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival is all set for its 16thannual season that will take place from 5 to 14 July in the Stellenbosch Konservatorium Building at Stellenbosch University this year. The programme will be bold, with Artistic Director Nina Schumann having expressed particular excitement about the newly commissioned work by Antoni Schonken and Arthur Feder. “I can’t wait to hear what promises to be a poignant work honouring Johnny Clegg (we all have a Juluka memory!), and incorporating a mix of musical genres.”

The SICMF evening faculty concerts will begin at 20:00 each and every evening between 5 and 11 July . Orchestral concerts start at 20:00 on 12 and 13 July with the final concert taking place at 16:30 on Sunday 14 July. These concerts take place at the Endler hall and tickets for all evening concerts are available from Computicket.

The SICMF is a unique and vibrant musical extravaganza where inspiration, education and world-class performance combine, facilitating social cohesion, multi-cultural integration and community interaction. Each year around 300 students enrol for active participation.

The SICMF will again host international celebrities such as Marc Bouchkov, Madeline Adkins and Alissa Margulis (violin), Juan-Miguel Hernandez and Gareth Lubbe (viola), Alexander Buzlov and David Cohen (cello), Uxia Martinez Botana (double bass), Geoffrey Pilkington (French Horn), Ferdinand Steiner (clarinet) and Demarre McGill (flute) to name a few. All of these names can be found in the likes of programmes from the Salzburg Festival, Verbier Festival, Wigmore Hall and/or the Lincoln Arts Centre in New York.

Imaginative SICMF programmes this year will include favourites by Bach, Mandelssohn, Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovskyas well as new works by Andrew Norman, Guillaume Connesson, Bruce Adolphe and Matthijs van Dijk.
